The core of Starving Zealots formed in 1993, when Graeme Friesen and Nic Brouwer began writing songs together, using the name, Rebozo. Drummer changes were a constant problem in the band, but they perservered regardless. What followed over the next 10 years was hundreds of shows, a dozen albums and a growing fan base. By 2001, Brent Winterhalt had become the permanent drummer that Nic and Graeme had been searching for and the gel began to set.

In late 2003, however, all 3 guys felt like something needed to change, or else the band would be done. After taking the winter off, Rebozo became Starving Zealots in early 2004 and things started to look very sunny. Immediately releasing a 3 song EP to introduce the new sound and new name, Starving Zealots was met with open arms amidst old fans, and new fans continued to grow as well. After releasing a 5 song album, Starving Zealots began to be pursued by several independent record labels, and it became their task to choose the best one for their vision.

In September 2005, the boys made the decision to sign with DoveFire Records and hastily made their way to Grande Prairie to record a new 3 song EP that would draw attention to a forthcoming full length.
For the remainder of 2005 & 2006, Starving Zealots continued to tour and play shows all over the prairies and momentum was definitely on their side. Throughout 2006, the boys made their way north several more times to complete the recording of the debut album, but by the end of 2006, things had, for no real reason, come to a screaching halt.

Early in 2007, Brent, Nic and Graeme all remained optimistic that the band would get back going, they'd release the album and things would explode. This wasn't to be. Starving Zealots, although not given a funeral or proper burial, was dead.

Fast forward almost 3 years, Graeme released a solo album, then set his guitar aside. Nic moved away, released a solo album and a solo EP, followed by extensive solo touring through 2007-2009. Brent began working on a solo album (yet to be released). But then, Nic moved back, Graeme started desiring guitar again, Brent, well, Brent was always ready to rock. The 3 began talking about finally releasing that album. Then they decided, maybe they should get back together, release the album, work on new material and play a few shows.

Starving Zealots isn't concerned about becoming famous, they just want to affect whoever they can and make some good music on the way.
