SONIC BOOM SIX

Punk / Hip Hop / Reggae

From Manchester’s dynamic musical landscape comes the most compelling soundclash to rise from the underground for years. The sound of a thousand city-centre clubnights and student party mash-ups invigorating the righteous fury of distorted guitars and dubby grooves… SB6 create a sound as authentic as it is unique. Check out ‘Sound of a Revolution’ for the Boom in an instant – fluid grime vocals laid over a bass-heavy skank, detonated with a blast of punk-rock.

The new Sonic Boom Six album Arcade Perfect drops on November 12th on the band’s own label imprint, Rebel Alliance Recordings. The disc includes Radio 1 Punk Show favourite ‘While You Were Sleeping’ along with ten more tracks of the band’s signature blend of punk-rock, hip-hop and ska recorded in Liverpool’s Sandhill Studios with current UK punk wnderkind Peter Miles. Up next, the Boom head around the UK on their biggest headline tour to date with Conneticut’s The Flaming Tsunamis in support and then onto a full UK tour with Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto in the 2008 New Year.

NEW WEBSITE! RADIO 1 SESSION! EXTRA UK DATES & THE NME(!)

Meep meep

Bit of news to get through today, hope everyone is sitting comfortably!

First of all, I'm excited to say that the new site is now up and running! Go to http://www.sonicboomsix.co.uk now!

There's a reet load of stuff on there for the SB6 fan... a full new site including a discography with full notes and links about the recordings as well as new galleries, links to reviews, interviews and features and all that kind of gubbins. But the really exciting bit is that to register as a member all you need to do is sign up and you will be able to access the new forum and the vault. In the vault is the LIVE, RARE, REMIX player which has three unreleased rarities to stream that will be changed every few months. As if that isn't enough to really entice you over we have a totally free Mp3 download of the unreleased outtake from Ruff-Guide - the quite bonkers 'Found it, Burned it, Fucked Off'. Just go to the bottom of the Vault page and download the Mp3 for nada. You're very welcome! Please come and muck in in the forums! And if you have any stuff to contribute, get back to us on web [a] sonicboomsix.co.uk, any photos or links you have please let us know.

Next Monday night on the BBC Radio 1 Punk Show, Mike will be broadcasting our session we recorded just before christmas. It is aired at 2:00 am on Monday night/Tuesday morning and will be up for a week after to stream online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/mikedavies. We went all-out ska on the session and recorded two skanky songs off Arcade Perfect plus a brand new cover version of a 2-Tone classic. Cheers to Pete Down I Go, Nick and Josh for joining us on brass. The Punk Show webpage will also have a free Mp3 download of a fourth tune available for the whole week. Big up to Mike Davies, keep supporting the show.

Alright then, on the live front, straight after the Reel Big Fish gigs we've added five dates just to tide us over until our next UK tour in May (which will be with a very exciting US band but more of that very soon). You can check us out at the following venues in March.

03rd LEICESTER CHARLOTTE
04th SOUTHAMPTON JOINERS
05th PETERBOROUGH MET LOUNGE
07th ST ALBANS THE HORN
08th KINGSTON FIGHTING COCKS

I think that's about it. As I say, don't be a stranger!

Barney x

p.s Apparently we're in the NME today on a feature on 'the real' DIY bands! So don't go asking the person next to you to pinch you when you see it, I assure you, you aren't dreaming!

REEL BIG FISH TOUR, JAPANESE DATES and more...

Now then!

I hope that everyone has recovered from the New Year celebrations and
all the excesses and all that good stuff. But the world needs to
return to normality at some point, so let's get our heads down and
chow down on some serious mail-list action. Yeee-ah.

First things first, we're playing the Snow Ball event at the
University of Derby. It's got lots of stuff to see and do so if any of
our fans in Derby want to come don't be strangers. Check it out here (
http://www.udsu.co.uk/news.html?article=140 )...

Also, some of the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed that we
have a gig on the 27th January. You need to ask yourselves a question.
Where would we be playing other than our favourite town? Who else
would be playing with than our favourite ska-metal band? Who else
would we be playing for than our favourite local promoters? And that's
all I'm saying.

On the day after that, we pop on the plane to visit Japan! Yes,
that's right. We're playing two shows in Tokyo (and possibly a couple
of instores, watch this space) mere days after Arcade Perfect is
released over there. Banzai!

2 Feb 2008 SHIBUYA QUATTRO TOKYO
3 Feb 2008 SHIBUYA THE GAME TOKYO

When we get back to Blighty, we're going to be supporting Reel Big
Fish on their full UK tour. The dates are up on the myspace and site
right now. Also on the tour are fantastic ska-punkers Streetlight
Manifesto so it's a solid bill top to bottom. What I would say is
PLEASE remember to turn up for doors so you don't miss us! Tickets
have literally been flying out with several shows already sold-out and
many upgraded. The tour looks something like this...

REEL BIG FISH, STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO AND SONIC BOOM SIX TOUR 2008

15 Feb CARLING ACADEMY NEWCASTLE
16 Feb CRESCENT PETERBOROUGH
17 Feb ACADEMY 1 MANCHESTER
18 Feb CARLING ACADEMY 2 LIVERPOOL
19 Feb MET UNI LEEDS
20 Feb WATERFRONT NORWICH
21 Feb CARLING ACADEMY BIRMINGHAM
22 Feb CORPORATION SHEFFIELD
23 Feb ACADEMY GLASGOW
24 Feb ROCK CITY NOTTINGHAM
25 Feb PYRAMIDS PORTSMOUTH
26 Feb ACADEMY OXFORD
27 Feb GREAT HALL EXETER
28 Feb WESTLANDS YEOVIL
29 Feb BEERKELLER BRISTOL
1 Mar CONCORDE 2 BRIGHTON
2 Mar ASTORIA LONDON

OK OK, some of you may have noticed that the site at
sonicboomsix.co.uk ( http://www.sonicboomsix.co.uk ) has finally been
properly sorted. I'm going to be installing a member's section with a
forum and an exclusive streaming music player which will have tons of
unreleased tunes, session tracks and live stuff in there. Its gonna
take a few weeks to get everything together in terms of the content so
bear with us. I'll be sure to fire out a newsletter when it's ready.
Until then, give it a visit and have a look at the new site.

Speaking of information superhighways, 'Arcade Perfect' is up on
i-Tunes right now. So if you've ILLEGALLY (GASP) downloaded it and you
like it, maybe you could consider throwing us a bone here (
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=268991882&s=143444
)... And of course, all you US and mainland European cats can get the
album from here too.

OK then, I think that's it for a bit. Remember to keep in touch! We
read all the stuff people send and post and put up so keep it up.

Cheers, here's to a good, productive 2008!

December 11

Radio 1 Session, Reel Big Fish Tour and XMas bizznisss.

Ahoy!

Hope everyone is well in themselves in this Christmas chill. It's
unbearably cold here in Manchester but there is no point in being a
nesh. Wrap yer sen in a big coat and enjoy the sentimental materialism
of the occasion.

Anyhoo, big up to everyone we've seen recently on tour, twas good
times indeed. There's a bit of news to get through before the end of
the year so lets dive in...

On Thursday we're going to be doing a session for the Punk Show on
Radio 1. We're recording four songs as per usual, three will be
broadcast on the show and one will be kept behind as a download only
tune. We'll do a cover for the download I reckon. Very good, very
good. Not positive when the session is going to air yet, soon as we
know for sure I will let you all know.

Also, we're well happy to announce that we'll be touring the length
and breadth of the UK with Reel Big Fish in February and March. A lot
of the dates are getting moved up into bigger venues already so it's
probably one to get your tickets in advance for. Hopefully Laila is
gonna help Aaron with his skanking anthem about lesbianism of an
evening. Something to look forward to!

Speaking of things to look forward to, presents are things to look
forward to and what better present than a piece of Sonic Boom Six
merchandise? He said smoothly... Please can you get your orders for
albums and merch in before the 20th and that should ensure that -
Royal Mail being true to it's word - we can get your goodies over to
you. Further details are on the webpage. Come visit the shop at OUR
ONLINE MERCH STORE at http://sonicboomsix.bigcartel.com

OK then, I think that's it for now. I will get the Reel Big Fish
dates up across the various sites as and when I can over the next day.
If you're desperate, go and visit them at their Myspace (
http://www.myspace.com/reelbigfish ).

If I don't message before then. Merry Christmas! But I think I
will...
