Societys Finest has seen many ups and downs over their 8-year career, but have used the experience to grow and mature, both as people and as a band. After a hiatus in 2003, during which time singer Joshua Ashworth toured with ZAO, the band reformed stronger than ever, and signed with Hand of Hope Records. Their Hand of Hope debut, Love, Murder, and a Three Letter Word, released in June of 2004, received both critic and fan praise and Societys Finest quickly became one of the best-selling bands on the label.

The long awaited full length, titled And I, the Drunkards, has an intensity and passion that far surpasses their previous material. The music is propelled by driving double bass and metallic riffs, crafted by Eli Bowser, who has collaborated in the past with Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying) on both Societys Finest and other projects. Eli was also a significant force in the production of the album. The music supports Joshuas vocals- ranging from a menacing growl to impressively adept melodic singing. Lyrically, the songs are brutally honest and discuss Joshuas disagreement with the opinion Christians must be perfect all the time.

And I, the Drunkards was written in frustration and silenceIt needed to be designed and then played out in real life situations. We chose Andreas Magnusson (Planet Red Studios, Scarlet) because of what he did with his own music; we knew we would get that darkness we were looking for.

Just want to say that I been a fan of you guys for quite some time now. Now that I\'ve said that I just wanted to say that just because we, as humans, cannot be perfect (compared to Christ) does not mean that we should not strive to be. We are suppose to be as Christ-like as we can in our lives. The only reason it\'s somewhat okay if we\'re not is because God will forgive us of anything we do. It\'s still good to strive for that perfection even if we know we\'ll never reach it.
