The Corvette Concept
In 1927 Chevrolet hired a guy by the name of Harley Earl, who in the near future, will be responsible for the appearance of the Chevrolet Corvette. After WWII, soldiers returning from overseas were bringing home MGs, Jaguars, Alfa Romeos and other cars of similarity. Built with these details, Earl could convince Gm of the requirement for a two-seat American performance car. The end result was a 1953 Corvette, that was originally hand-built in Chevrolet's Flint, Michigan delivery center.

The Corvette Name
Myron E. "Scottie" Scott, will always be highlighted in history since the man who gave the Corvette its name.

In 1937, Chevrolet hired Myron Scott as an assistant director for that Public Relations department. Here Myron was responsible for the photography, marketing and advertising from the new cars. Her served this task for quite some time.

In 1953, a unique executive meeting was arranged to locate a name for a new Chevrolet sports car that has been being developed. Following suite, the organization wanted a name that began with a "C". Over 300 names were thought up and submitted for the running, but none of them of the 300 names made the ultimate cut.

That night Scott what food was in home searching through the "C" portion of the dictionary and discovered the phrase "corvette" - "a speedy pursuit ship inside the British navy". The very next day Scott suggested "Corvette" to the group and everyone loved it.
