About silverjet
The incarnation of Silverjet began way back in 2000 in Sheffield. After numerous comings and goings in the rhythm section, founder members Dave Kerr (Guitar) and Andy Mewse (Guitar) found stability and continuity being humbly assisted on bass by good friend Paul Gilliver and behind the drum kit with Jon Hardcastle who they stumbled upon after a chance meeting during a night of debauchery. This would be the line-up of Silverjet until the end of 2003 when Paul departed amicably in pursuit of a band with a differing musical persuasion (good luck mate, all the best). As of July 2004, the current Silverjet line-up has been completed by the addition of Paul Oates on bass. Ironically, Paul assisted Silverjet in their infancy and is credited for co-writing some of their earlier compositions. From the very beginning Silverjet endeavoured to recruit the ultimate frontman. Various singers came and went during four years of searching. Some were good, some were bad but none of them were right. This long and unsuccessful search for a vocalist did not deter this band in the slightest, never deviating from their original concept or musical influences. Silverjets current members are committed to introducing their own brand of music to as many people as possible, far and wide. All of the bands members are seasoned and accomplished musicians boasting a wealth of previous experience which results in a band which has a solid and awesome live sound. So, you must be wondering, how did this band ever see the light of day without that frontman. Well, after much deliberation, the band has decided to progress things further and Dave stepped up to the mic on lead vocal as well as holding on to his duties on guitar. Whilst it is fair to say it was originally intended that this was a temporary measure, two gigs was all that was needed by all to decide this was absolutely the right decision and that the illusive frontman had been found! Since their live debut in late September 2004, Silverjet have been taking the music scene by the scruff of the neck and shaking it with their own dose of Rock n Roll. Their songs are raw, catchy, loud and infectious drawing from influences such as The Faces, The Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, The Quireboys and Aerosmith to name but a few. The result is a sound and feel which is distinctly retro, its roots planted somewhere back in time yet it has an original and timeless quality. In realizing their long term vision of playing live, the band have been invited by TB Records as guest support band on UK tours for Canadian rockers Crash Kelly and Mike Tramp (White Lion). Additionally, local support slots have included Budgie, Statetrooper, The Dogs DAmour, The Quireboys and Mountain. Further dates are already in the pipeline supporting other major acts. Silverjet are a band who have always set their heights high and who can blame them. Their sheer determination and commitment will ensure that they will always get where they want to go. See Silverjet live soon, anyone would be a fool to miss em.
