In October of 2007-in the small city of Orrville, Ohio-a group of new-found friends discovered their mutual love of music. Clint Sprunger, Alex Gregory, Emily Swartzentruber, Nathan Fertig and Harley Hicks then became collectively known as the band Shine Bright Baby. Together they created a sound reflecting their fun personalities but also a raw honesty that blatantly addresses the struggles of everyday life. Driven by their love for music and the message of truth in their hearts, the band draws influence from their favorite artists: Anberlin, Relient K, Paramore and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Ranging from ages 17 to 19, they are perfectly positioned to capture the hearts and minds of music lovers everywhere. With dueling guitars, solid bass, savvy drum lines pair flawlessly with soaring female vocals create a catchy sound enjoyable to many audiences.
Each member of Shine Bright Baby has a story to tell. Lead singer Emily and guitarist Nathan had come from a broken up basement band (R.I.P. The Mixtape Kids) had moved their attentions from the band scene to worship leading for their local youth group. Through leading worship they found Alex, who was said to have played drums but was actually a very talented bassist. Harley, the other guitarist who also sings back up, was a newcomer to the Orrville-area. His family moved from New Brunswick, Canada and within two months he inspired Emily, Nathan and Alex to join him in his musical endeavors. He came from a metal background (R.I.P. Righteous Decree) but after hearing Emily sing knew they were onto something. A terrible tragedy brought the new band their final member, Clint, a phenomenal drummer. He tributes his motivation and passion for music to his father who passed away suddenly in the summer of 2007.
Shine Bright Baby since then has been on the move. Within their first three months they played seven shows (including Peabodys in Cleveland) and recorded a six song EP in a professional studio. They were not ones to waste any time, going full speed ahead, the band gained steam on MySpace. This helped their fan base span the globe, with interest growing in Europe and Canada.
Shine Bright Babys fame has not been short lived, the enthusiasm continues to grow as they anticipate the release of their debut EP Brace Yourself and their upcoming shows and tour. With these young people stomping onto the scene they will soon be a force to be reckoned with!
