Despite their recent bad band expreience, Edgar(guitar) & John(bass) decided to give it one last try before they called it quits. Months went by and finaly the day came when Edgar found Jon Sher(vox) showcasing a couple of his songs here on purevolume. After a some few e-mails being sent back in fourth the two finally hooked up and began creating some music in December of 2004. The two were determined to create a full band. With the bass player(John Navarro) already in tact, the band was looking to find, hopefully another guitarist and desperately, a full time drummer. Waiting patiently, the day finally came when fate took its place. Edgar had at the time enrolled in a sound recording class at Cerritos College and long behold the greatest man alive/guitar extraodinar Jules Bittar was discovered in February of 2005. lol. Can you guess which one us is writing this? With 4 very dedicated individuals in tact and ready to rock the streets of so cal, the final piece was yet to be found. Going through drummers like Jennifer Lopez goes through husbands, the constant struggles and failed attemps at conceiving a long term drummer was evading them. Days, weeks, and even Months flew by untill finally Jules' long time aquaintance Josef J. Ziegler decided to give us his full commitment and got on board in July of 2005. Having a good amount of songs already complete was a huge plus for the band. This allowed the them to find a drummer who's style was right for the music. It was only a short matter of time before the band was exposed to what Joey had to offer. The band was confused. grind-core? blast-beats? It was difficult enough finding a drummer, but finding someone as committed as Joe would have been nearly impossible. Open minded and eager to share his thrash/metal/grindcore roots with the emo-pop/punk-indie band, he gladly joined the emo-acoustic experience, and was welcomed with open arms. The band was finally complete in July of 2005, and they went on to call themselves SHE SAID DAKOTA. SSD anxiously awaited the chance to get in the studio, and In August of 2005 the band recorded their self-titled EP at Love Juice Labs. Since then, She Said Dakota has been playing many shows and creating more and more music as a band. SSD is set to be back in the studio sometime in March and will be releasing their new LP somtime in April of 2006. Being able to create a unique sound to call their own was inevitable due to there many different influences, ranging from bands like The Format to Glassjaw. It's all good. Each member gives his own blend of musical talent. This dynamic band has it all from ukuleles to blast beats. Enjoy.
