Shays' Rebellion has taken its unique and unmistakable brand of rock all the way from newcomer to fixture in the Greater Boston music scene and beyond. An upbeat rock and roll band whose aspiration is to create quality music, and have a good time doing so. Rich Lydon, Josh Mallon, Brad Kent, and Chris Field formed Shays Rebellion March of 2006. The potential of this band is undeniable. The mixing of blues, funk, and rock creates the potent cocktail that enhances the high spirits so easily found at a Shays Rebellion venue. It has been said that once you get a taste of the Rebellion's original sound, you will be left with just two words to say... "MORE COWBELL!" As the bands bass player so accurately puts it "We want to play music that people can get up and dance to. "

Shays Rebellion is another of my favorite up-and-coming bands. Treading in the footsteps of Sublime and The Clash, Shays Rebellion mixes punk rock and reggae and takes it to a new level, developing a refreshing new sound. The crowd is stirred up from the get-go and the drunken buzz in the air is only heightened by the good times the band is having on the stage. Bassist Chris Field looks and sounds like a young Sting and temporarily steals the spotlight from Josh Mallon and Brad Kent with a Police cover. Its getting late and Shays does a few more tunes, and progressively wows the crowd song after song. Heres to another good night and a great show. (Kier Byrnes)
