Hi we're The Setups and we're here to shake up your airwaves. We are a four piece band whose catchy sound has been described as everything from Indie Pop to Dancy Surf Rock. Our influences are: The Strokes, Rooney, Phantom Planet, Pete Yorn, Shout Out Louds, Velvet Underground, The Hives, Secret Machines, The Beatles and a whole lot of other bands that i just can't think of right now. We wear a lot of Levi's jeans and our set lists are always scribbled in purple marker.
Currently we are writing new material and booking lots of shows. If you are interested in playing a show or helping us book one, let us know, we are always open for ideas. If you like what you hear, tell your friends, come to a show or just simply leave a comment.

hey sorry i really haven't kept up with the purevolume for a while but i've got good news for everybody. if you didn't know the band released our 11th and 12th songs in the past months but i've started and almost finished 3 more tracks in the past few weeks. all three of these sound much more promising and i can't wait to get them finished. sorry for the lack of shows but all it seems we've done recently are grad parties. the few remaining venues seemed to be booked and we're just looking for any place to play so if anyone has any info for us we'd much appreciate it. thanks a lot everyone look forward to the new material and hopefully some more shows at some real venues. later

Hey all my blog fans out there, its been a while since I've posted anything so I thought I'd just give a quick update. The Setups are currently working on their 11th and 12th songs which are almost complete. Talk of Setups' T-Shirts have been hovering in the hallways of our school from a couple of different sources so that might happen. We've also got a few possible shows coming up but like always they're not for sure yet. Thanks for all the support and hopefully we'll be out there again with new songs new shows and new fans!!!! I'll keep you posted.

April 8
This past Thursday's show at Mickey Finn's was considered by some fans to be our best ever. With a long awaited return to anywhere close to central Lake County, we were very pumped for the show. We were also coming off of a pretty big let down at the Clearwater Theater so we needed a huge boost of pure energy. The sound was perfect, the lights were wonderful ( especially the disco ball) but most importantly our fans showed up big time. With a packed room of people we were finally ready to make a statement. 30 minutes later after the most powerful indie rock set ever, we found ourselves receiving a very loud chant for an encore. ONE MORE SONG ONE MORE SONG!!!!! after the guy the announcing everything told the crowd that the show was running late they responded by saying LET THEM PLAY LET THEM PLAY!!!!! finallly the guy told us to make it quick and the crowd was pleased. It was the most fun I've had onstage in a while and i want to thank everyone for supporting us that night. If you were there you know what I mean when I say that it was the show of the spring. Truly one to remember.
Set List: I Met You At A Drive-Thru, Conundrum, Over The Edge, Rachel, Last NIte (The Strokes), Miss Von Duprine Encore: Somewhere in my Mind

March 7
Our show on March 3rd at Showboat of Lyons in Lake Geneva was sweet. With a crowd of 40 people and a setlist of 10 songs we once again rocked "The Palace". For the first time in a while we released a brand new song called Over The Edge. We opened the show with the rare track Conundrum which involved a key change along with a more powerful drum beat for the chorus. The result, a new and improved rockin version to a song that was at the bottom of our fan favorites. Slowly but surely I have faith that this new version will catch on to be a hit at the shows. After the show was over the assistant manager invited us back whenever we want. You can bet well be back up there in the near future. Thanks to everyone who made the drive and to any new fans we might have gained.

With the sad reality that we didn't win Battle of the Bands and the glum feeling that we were cheated out of first place even after our flawless performance, we've all had a hard time trying to pick ourselves back up again. We wound up with 2nd place, if you were there, you know why we are upset, and if you weren't, there's no need to dive back into a bottomless pit of muck and rubbish that consumed our thoughts for the past few days. Besides all this, I took a trip up to Showboat in Lake Geneva where we're playing next Saturday and it's awesome. The stage is set up in the upper level restaurant and bar which just has a railing on the one side so you can not only see us from the lower level in the lobby but you can hear us as well. hopefully this will encourage new fans from the local area up there to stop by to see us. Our newest track will most likely be finished and released next Saturday so it's worth the trip check it out!!!!!!
