Biography:
Somehow, we all ended up living in Brooklyn, NY, currently our home and one of our favorite places in the world.
We basically gave up on everything we thought we knew about music and writing and set out to make something for ourselves that we could eventually deliver to the world.
Michael had a home studio where he had been recording rock and electronica under various names. Greg was bartending and playing in different bands around town. In the fall of 2004, we got together to see if we could put life aside and give in to the concept of something new. After many late nights and empty bottles, 5 songs emerged.
Patrick joined the band in time to create the artwork and put the finishing touches on a self-released EP titled "Resistance". Johnny was convinced to move from California to lend a hand and Hayden joined on drums to round out the lineup. We then started playing shows around NYC. Eventually Hayden left the band and was soon replaced by Jochen.
By April of 2006, we had written enough for what we considered to be our first full length album. Along the way, indie blog Music.For-Robots put us on their first compilation cd and Purevolume made us one of their top pick artists for a week. Through this exposure and having a couple of our songs in rotation on AOL Radio, we got a call from a label called Invisible DJ - a brand new indie startup from the people at Ron Herman in LA (of Fred Segal fame).
With a shared vision about our music, we set up a relationship with Invisible DJ on paper and soon found ourselves in the studio wrapping up 10 songs. The final mixes were then mastered at Sterling Sound with Greg Calbi.
We call this album "Blinds Down", and for us, it stands as a culmination of our own identity. It officially comes out on Oct 24th, 06 and will first be exclusively available through Ron Herman stores, digital places like iTunes, and at our shows when we stop by your favorite local venue.
In the meantime, we decided to take some of the songs from the album, make some tweaks, twist some knobs, speed things up, slow things down and put them togther with our first single from the album - "Bitter From the Start".
We hope you enjoy all of it. Thanks for listening...
