**Scraping For Change (also known as SFC) is a Bay Area based alt/rock band that differentiates themselves from their competition with a new sound and direction very different from other bands in their genre. Musically, the band experiments a little out of the box combining new wave elements of electronic and rock into one explosive sound!
SFC is known to have stellar live performances full of energy and crowd interaction. SFC formed in Belmont, California in 2003. Scraping For Change consists of Vocalist/Guitarist Sterling Selover, Drummer Jonathan Mumma, Keyboardist Scott Lewis, and Bassist Matthew Loughridge.
**Scraping for Change played at the infamous Playboy Mansion in May, 2007.
They followed this show by taking a summer tour throughout Indonesia in July and August of 2007 to play in the largest music festival of the year, "Soundrenaline." The average attendance at each festival show was 50,000+.
While on tour in Indonesia, their song "Crazy Mary" climbed to the #1 spot on the Top 40 Charts of Prambors Radio right above Kanye West's "Stronger," and various other acts including Yellowcard, Sum41, Lifehouse, Shiny Toy Guns and more!
**Since their Indonesian tour in 2007, the next few years consisted of much touring throughout California, Arizona, Nevada, and they even hit the midwest.
**SFC began an international publicity campaign in February of 2010 and set out on a 12 show Tour in Japan in July of 2010. They obtained a distribution deal through Disk Union in Tokyo. A new music video for their song "Wasteland" highlights their tour of Japan and is now available to view online.
**In early 2010, after several weeks of the song "Breaking the Silence" airing on Live 105, "Scraping for Change" became one of the Top 5 Most Requested local bands on the Sunday night show "Soundcheck."
**SFC has been featured/reviewed in Billboard Discoveries (2010), Guitar Player Magazine (2009), AwakenMusic (2009), The OWLMag (2010), Pop Vulture/Jerseybeat.com (2010), The 2009 Musician's Atlas, and several newspapers including The Turlock Journal (2006), The San Mateo Daily Journal (2007), and The Tri Valley Herald (2006).
**In May of 2010, SFC finished recording their new full length album, "The Great Escape," at the Killingsworth Recording Company in Los Angeles, headed by Tomas Costanza, owner of Chamberlain records and lead singer of the now defunct rock band "Diffuser." The album is available on CDBaby and iTunes.
