There is a time in everyones life, when they look back on all their past mistakes. Scarlet Undercover can look back on their previous bands, sounds, and decisions and find plenty of mistakes. But why should they? SU knows they have a bright future ahead of them. And they show no signs of slowing down.
SU has been one of the hardest working bands in North Carolina for the past year. Being from a small town, they had to work hard to be accepted by the local scene in bigger cities. SU had a hard time booking more than 1 show every couple of weeks. Eventually, their outstanding live show got people talking and they started playing 2 to 3 nights a week and being asked to share the stage with such bands as Copeland, I Am the Avalanche, Anberlin, and Sullivan.
After touring to support their EP [Stop, Drop, Rock and Roll (Reed Records)] last summer, SUs fans were begging for new tunes. So in response, the band decided to record some demos with producer Marc McClusky (Hit the Lights, Farewell). They made the trek to Chicago and came back to NC with a new fire and a new outlook on their music. "We had heard the stuff Marc had done and we loved all his hooks and his take on the pop aspect of music. We are really good at writing a solid, rock song. But we are the first to admit that our pop side needed a little help" says bassist Alex Nolette, "what we brought back was exactly what we were aiming for. We wanted to keep our hard rock sound, yet add the perfect pop sensibility that will get everyone hooked."
The sound, the image, the show, and the passion; all of these aspects keep this band destined for bigger stages and larger crowds. Catch SU while they are small or catch them when they are big. Either way, you will not be able to take your eyes or ears off Scarlet Undercover.
