May 8
(East Rutherford, NJ - Sunday May 4th, 2008) It was one of those long lazy afternoons, we were tired, dehydrated and nauesous, but we were enjoying every second of this year's Bamboozle. We got to see some great acts such as: Anti-Flag, The Bouncing Souls, Coheed and Cambria, Gym Class Heroes, The Street Dogs, Bret Michael's Band (wierd), and of course The Mighty Mighty BossToneS.
There were alot of the generic pop/punk/emo bands that all sounded the same, but the notables that stood out were Mayday Parade which had a huge following, aided by the fact that they were the hometown favorite. The Secret Handshake tried to get the crowd pumped and dancing as they combined elements of pop/alternative and dance and they working towards it, but it became very apparent when the computer (which is really the entire show) accidentally shut-off, and it showed us that the drummer was really just there for show as his drums were barely mic'd at all.
The first real highlight of the day came when Anti-Flag took the stage. The 20 year veterans from Pittsburgh stole the afternoon with the most entertaining original punk act since The Clash. The lead singer/bassist Chris #2 routinely pumped up the crowd by shouting remarks for unity and peace. The resonating phrase of "My Friends" or "My brothers and sisters" started nearly every crowd interaction and seemed to get everyone thrilled. The song 'This Is The End (For You My Friend)' featured on Madden NFL '07, had every one singing along and got them ready for the finale, in which Chris #2 destroyed nearty everything in sight. He proceeded to smash a megaphone and mic stand, then he put a mallet through a bass drum, ripped the head off the bass drum and threw it on the ground smashing it in pieces, but he didn't stop there. He then took his bass guitar and smashed that on the ground as well, and to finish it off the drumer flew over his drum set knocking it all down along the way, leaving the crowd to chant "One More Song!."
What makes the Bamboozle different from Warped Tour? Well I'm not too sure of that but we didn't have to walk as far, that's for sure. The Sunday lineup was admittedly a bit weaker than the Saturday lineup which featured the likes of Snoop Dog, Paramore, Less Than Jake and Steeetlight Manifesto. But it was a long overdue awaited appearance for one long time Boston favorite, The Mighty Mighty BossToneS. Limited to only 35 minutes because of the short format they wailed from start to finish sounding as great as ever. They opened with "The Rascal King" which got everyone dancing and played fan favorites such as "Kinder Words" and "Hope I Never Lose My Wallet." They also played there new single "Don't Worry Desmond Dekker" which has gained a lot of airtime on radio stations throughout New England. They finished the night with the legendary anthem, "The Impression That I Get." Even after 10 years, and with a diverse age in crowd ranging from 14-40. Everyone knew the words and song along. It was also great to see Kevin Linear re-united with the band for one more show. Judging by the turn-out to see them, and the constant demands and requests from fans, it looks like the BossToneS re-union could go on just a little bit longer. The band has remained hush about there future plans, but at any rate, it was great to see them enterain the crowd one more time.

Well,
I feel I can retire now, well not yet but after Friday. I can't believe I'm finally getting a chance to play at Lupo's. This is the most exiciting event of they year for us!!! Not bad for a band that started in March of this year ... I can't wait to start recording!
Cheers,
Brian
