Members: Sarah Johnston (guitars, keyboard, bass, harmonica, ukulele, tambourine), Jon Avery (drums)
Sarah Johnston (Sarahjane) is a young artist with fresh ideas yet familiar roots, combining electric blues guitar and acoustic fingerpicking with passionate lyrics to create stirring results. Inspired by artists as varied as the White Stripes, Ben Gibbard, and Rufus Wainwright, Sarah's music is poetic yet universal. Her music has been called "soulful", "haunting, incandescent" and "truly beautiful" by her fellow performers, and she has opened for and shared the stage with acts such as Penny Lang, Suzie Vinnick, Chris Whiteley & Diana Braithwaite, the Marigolds, and Max Bent.
Sarah's performances also carry an international flair; having studied over 5 languages, she writes and covers songs in French and Spanish, and is not yet ruling out the incorporation of Italian and German songs into her sets. She is currently studying at the University of Ottawa to improve her knowledge of language and international culture. She has performed in local musicals, fundraising shows, open stages and house concerts, and is eager to find more opportunities to share her music.
