About Sam-
Maybe it's something playful like 'Runnin' With the Boys'. Maybe it's something more thought-provoking like 'Do Good Then Walk Away'. Or maybe it's an honest ballad like 'I'd Rather Walk'. Whatever it is, you'll be singing it in the shower, on the way to work, or as you fall asleep that night because make no mistake, Sam Baker writes the kinds of songs that bounce around in your head for days. The 21-year-old Wisconsin native began learning guitar chords and Bob Dylan covers at the age of 13. Five years later, he had begun playing the piano and the harmonica and crafting his own songs. He moved to Nashville and spent a year studying music at Belmont University. In 2004, he returned to the Midwest to record his first studio album, Do Good Then Walk Away. His music is a blend of acoustic/piano pop, country, and folk that is influenced by artists ranging from Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash to Andy Davis and Dave Barnes. Still, his record (which is due out in early 2007) proves that his music remains unique, characterized by honesty, accessibility, and precision. He can be seen everywhere from piano bars to county fairs, delighting audiences with catchy melodies, smart lyrics, and solid musicianship.
