Zac Little plays guitar, banjo, dulcimer, stomps, claps, and sings. Steva Jacobs plays guitar, banjo, trash can, stomps, claps, and sings. Grace Chang plays violin, stomps, claps, and sings. Luke Smith plays trash can, guitar, dulcimer, stomps, claps, and sings.
Saintseneca is a folk band from Columbus, Ohio, but "folk" doesn't capture the passion, potential and joy in their music. The band might say they play folk songs, at least as an idiom, but the real magic behind their twangy banjo, percussive dulcimer and floating violin is the sudden symphonies of sound created with layers of voices, stomps, claps and trash cans. The arrangements within this 4-song 7" vinyl/digital EP, combine to create complex music with simple instruments while presenting complex subjects in common language. The live show makes you want to find the the nearest surface to begin beating along, which has spontaneously happened at recent summer sweat-soaked shows in basements, all-ages clubs, alleyways and under bridges. Much like their live show, their debut 7" is strangely transfixing and over way too soon.
