Walrus Writings: Rubber Soul Is NOT Starved for Attention on City Island!
blog post
Hey Friends:
To use a sports analogy: Its great playing in front of the home crowd!
Rubber Soul played its TWELTH consecutive sold-out engagement at City Islands The Starving Artist Caf & Gallery on Saturday, January 12th.
Last September at The Artist, we performed our midi-flavored "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band." That song, along with "A Little Help From My Friends" and "I Am The Walrus," had helped to solidify an exceptional psychedelic song bloc to offer our fans. Little did we know then it would be the beginning of more ambitious projects in store for us.
Last Saturday, we debuted what we affectionately call the "Swan Song Medley" the Beatles magnum opus from Side Two of the Abbey Road album. The medley was a huge success in no small part due to the diligence and hard work of our drummer Jeff Mucciolo. Jeff created the crucial backing tracks that in turn made the performance of the medley possible. To the untrained observer, Jeff may seem to be simply the drummer who lays down the beat and keeps the rest of us in the "pocket." In reality, his contributions great and small are an integral part of our success as a band.
On behalf of the group, Id like to thank the GREAT people at The Starving Artist: Uncle Bill, little Hannah (our BIGGEST fan), waitress extraordinaire Mariel, and of course Monica and Elliott Glick. And no fans are as rabid and supportive as the ones who descend upon 249 City Island Avenue.
We look forward to seeing many of you at our next performance!
Peace and love to all,
The Walrus
