Making Plans to Blow Your Mind

Posted March 25, 2008

Well, ladies and gents: this is the home-stretch. I’m officially two months away from graduation and am incredibly excited/freaked/exuberant/anxious/exhausted/curious/intimidated/thankful/worried/happy -- you name it, I’m feeling it. I realized yesterday while I was flying to Chicago that the flight I was taking to Notre Dame was the last plane flight I would be taking to Notre Dame as a student. Ever. Whoa. There’s nothing else like those major moments in life that give you a swift kick to the gut, huh? Oh well . . . (*raising a tall glass*) "Here’s to Father Time!" I am officially ’busy’ this week; I currently have two shows coming up (which I’m very excited about), am swamped with academic work, have my brother coming to visit me tomorrow (hell yeah!), and am a judge for . . . wait for it . . . IRISH IDOL 2008! That’s right, Notre Dame is holding an American Idol-style competition, and I am officially one of three judges that will be picking 10 singers who will ultimately perform live at Legends next Thursday evening. I am the only male judge, which means by default I have to sit in the middle, say nonsensical things, act like I’m drunk, repeat things my co-judges say, and be an overall disturbance to the event. What I’m saying is that I’m the Paula Abdul of the group based on seating arrangements. Oh well . . . (*raising yet another tall glass*) "Three Cheers to being the male part of a lady sandwich!!!" Oh boy. Let’s see if I can keep my foot out of my mouth next Thursday. Until later nerds and nerdettes, Robbie
