Once-upon-a-time there was the 80's. Axe-upon-axe, amp-upon-amp. Hair was clean and high, clothes were real leather, and emo wasn't yet in the womb. Those days are now past, but the effect lives on. We survive, parents now of musicians who have new music styles with screaming in place of singing (funny, my dada said the same thing) and lyrical content that is not able to be deciphered with the human ear. Nonetheless, we encourage them to pursue the dream, because we remember. The dream is still alive in us. We remember!!! Mark and Bert jammed together in the 80's as the Chicago metal band Mind's Eye. The club circuit served them well, and on the eve of signing a recording deal, the unthinkable happened. Mark met Jesus and got saved!!! He tried to hold on with the band, but his conscience would not let him continue and he left the band. Mark and Bert went their separate ways. Jeff played with several Christian Metal bands in the Joliet area at the time Mind's Eye was playing Chicago, and Roger was playing in a Christian Metal band in Southern California with his brother. After a few years Mark and Bert met up again when Bert returned from the South to announce that he too had met Jesus at a Teen Challenge facility and was now serving the Lord. In '88 Roger met up Joe Taylor of the 80's Christian Punk band Undercover. He toured and sang with Joe on his solo OJO project tour. Jeff met mark and Bert at Heart Maneuvers Church in Joliet and made up the Praise and Worship team with Pastor Larry Dean of 80's Christian Metal band Tryton. Roger moved to Illinois in 1990 to finish college and met Mark and Bert at the Salvation Army Church in Mt Greenwood, IL. Mark introduced Roger to Bert, Mark new Jeff, Jeff knew Bert, Roger met Jeff, and they all lived happily ever after. Now, encouraged by my up-and-coming musician son (Dressed for the Occasion), I have posted the effect of the 80s at his prompting. Enjoy!!!
P.S. Im proud of you David. Keep up the good work!!!
