If there is a god of rock n roll, well, then five boys from Saarland, Germany seem to be on pretty good terms with him. In the city of Vlklingen, passionate musicians Benjamin Bencivinni (Guitars & Vocals), Matthias Braun (Lead Vocals), Oliver Jungmann (Drums & Percussion), Sven Schackmann (Bass) and Gerrit Sittler (Guitars & Vocals) have joined musical forces and set out to make the world see that there are not only blast furnaces and dirty windows in their hometown!
REPULSED is the newly founded bands name and a combination of pounding riffs, deep atmosphere and intelligent songwriting is the game. Inspired and influenced by hard hitters such as Machine Head, Metallica, Sevendust or Soil, the boys sweep over audiences like a great blaze, without forgetting their quiet and melodic side, which at times might remind the listener of 3 Doors Down, Evanescence or A Perfect Circle.
Although fundamental human emotions such as love and hate, joy and grief, trust and fear are the subjects of the songs, the overall tone of REPULSEDs music remains a thoroughly positive one. Lyricist Matthias tries to use images that give himself strength, too: Maybe music cannot solve problems but I know that it can help people to cope with them a little more easily. Apart from that it can be a hell of a lot of fun and I hope we can get that across to listeners.
Something like destiny, as the boys themselves describe it, has brought them together in the spring of 2005 and after several jam-sessions they left the status of project behind and formed a full-grown band. There was this spark and we all felt how well it could work. We share a great passion for this music and I am absolutely grateful for that, Oliver says about the origins of REPULSED.
After the first five practices, the band had written five (!) songs and they are planning to keep up the pace and have that furnace burn at full power.
The fives affinity for each other as well as their craziness for music obviously paved the way towards working together the first day they met and that work is finally for everyone to see, as they will be releasing their debut EP in early 2006.
The stage is set, the level of self confidence is at an all-time high and the boys have a pretty big goal. So its quite good to know that the god of rock n roll is on their side
