This collaboration of five musicians with different backgrounds proves the whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts. Dossey, Tony, Nick, Patrick, and Seth unite to create unique yet familiar modern rock songs that might leave you singing along before you realize. No strangers to the music industry, they've each been involved in successful musical endeavors in the past. Ransom Theory, officially born New Years Day 2006, has created an impressive buzz thanks to top-notch material and a loyal fan base.
With drive and determination to bring their music to the masses, Ransom Theory crafts radio-ready alternative rock anthems. The energetic vocals, biting guitar, and tight rhythm section deliver catchy hooks and memorable melodies. Each song pulls the listener in with heartfelt lyrics and massive sing-a-long choruses.
Within a few months of conception, Ransom Theory released early demo recordings which were met with enthusiasm and anticipation of more to come. Over the summer of 2006, Ransom Theory entered the studio to record The Ransom Theory EP with renowned producer Frank Marchand (Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Good Charlotte, The Almighty Senators). The EP, mastered at Airshow Mastering by Grammy winning engineer Charlie Pilzer, showcases seven compositions with staying power and a distinct sound.
The five members of Ransom Theory hold nothing back when on stage in their element and realize an engaging live show is paramount. Audience interaction is the focus of every performance and each member of the crowd is involved. Dossey's charismatic stage presence draws people out of their seats to the front of the stage. Guitarists Tony and Nick play to the crowd while delivering polyrhythmic melodies and trade off lead and rhythm duties. Seth's thundering bass lines lock in with Patrick's aggressive percussion and keep everyone on their feet. The band feeds on listener enthusiasm and the results are dynamic live performances.
Still a young band, Dossey, Tony, Nick, Patrick, and Seth are driven by the success of their collective musical vision. Shows in the MD/VA/DC region are bringing their music to the masses and a tour of the East Coast is on the horizon.
