What began as a group of friends cramped in a bedroom, attempting to write music, soon grew to become a diehard passion for the members of Raised Threshold. The hard alternative rock group based out of California's San Francisco Bay Area joined the music scene in late 2007, but did not start performing live until November of 2009. They soon released an independent, full-length album entitled Half a Page Written, Half a Page Read (Flying Pigg Recordings, engineer John Rivera) in summer of 2010. Continuing to play shows from that point to the present, Raised Threshold has since then toured the upper side of the West Coast and shared the stage with groups such as Eyes Set to Kill, Aiden, The Classic Crime, Spoken, Thousand Foot Krutch, Vampires Everywhere, Get Scared, From Indian Lakes, and Picture Me Broken, to name a few. They have played a majority of venues, including Slim's (San Francisco, CA), The DNA Lounge (San Francisco, CA), The Redhouse (Walnut Creek, CA), The Boardwalk (Sacramento, CA) and the main stage for the Joshua Festival (Plymouth, CA). In January 2012, the band released a brand new single entitled "Destroy You."
The five-piece consists of Will Ehlert (lead vocals, guitar, violin), Jerome Mathew (vocals, guitar), Kris Ehlert (vocals, keys), Chris Lopez (vocals, drums), and Danica Lopez (vocals, bass, percussion). With their energetic live show and thoughtful, anthem-filled music, the band hopes to bring a new sound to the forefront of the music industry. Mixing the heavy side of music with the more orchestral and ethereal, Raised Threshold presents a musical onslaught of catchy, thought-provoking melodies and dynamic instrumental showmanship. Lyrics of positive encouragement and a belief in hope fill every song. The band desires that people of all ages and all walks of life can take something from their music.
With their most recent release "Destroy You," the band's aim takes on a personal note. "The song is about facing those things that try to hold you back from what you can truly become. In a way, you're pulling out your fears, setting them in front of you and screaming 'I'll destroy you' at them. It's really a huge life decision, and its one that all of us in the band have had to face at one point or another," says frontman Will Ehlert. The single was recorded at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts by Ian Duran, mixed at Young Fire Productions by Justin Young, and mastered at Sonic Ranch Studios by Marco Ramirez. "We're really excited with the release of this track. The process of recording it and getting it all together was amazing," Will continues, "We're so thankful for the teams that we worked with; we couldn't have done it without them - from the live strings, to the production."
