After 4 years hiatus RADIATION YEAR...is BACK!

Upcoming: Radiation Year's 2011 Schedule, "Bonnie Bodacious" official music video Directed by: Nicholas Scott Chiasson and NEWS about the reformation of RADIATION YEAR and the NEW ALBUM!!

**PLEASE, READ BIO STORY IN ITS FULL ENTIRETY...it makes this music worth falling in love with**

Radiation Year was first founded in 2006 in Augusta, Maine by Nicholas Scott Chiasson,Zack Sears, Chris Sweet, and Seif Al Malkay. Between 2006 and 2008 the band sparked the fire that formed the Maine music scene. The guys obtained a dedicated following throughout New England alongside brothers is music Sparks The Rescue (Fearless Records), The Killing Moon (Fearless Records), Vanna, Therefore I Am, Our Last Night, The Receiving End Of Sirens, Last Chance to Reason and Armor for The Broken.

After logging in over 70 shows in that time span,a few small tours in the Northeast, including Mainstage of Rockstar's Taste of Chaos and Vans Warped Tour, the band gained the interest of several Indie and Major Record Labels. With only a 5 song EP under their belt near the spring of 2007, the band decided to take an extensive break to begin writing a full length album. The guys had started growing sick of the "cookie cutter, generic" sound that they were seeing amongst the bands that they were playing with and being exposed to. The guys will speculate that it was also the lack of inspirational rock and roll around at the time. The were constantly going on about how all this music is sounding the same, and how nothing is original, or written with hopes that it will hold strong through generations to come, or just jamming music for the love of it.

With this strong mindset, Radiation Year set out...determined to create a Heavy record unlike any other Heavy records. An album that broke the rules of Hardcore and allowed multiple genres of music to shine through the heavy spectrum. An album that felt like Rock and Roll used to feel like. Something different that could appeal to everyone, and even maybe turn new people onto Heavy music before they even saw it performed live. On August 13th, 2007, the band entered the studio in Boston, Ma with known Producer: Enoch Jensen. It was there where they spent 13 days tracking and co-producing 16 original songs, that would one day come to be known as : "A Breath of Fresh Air For Heavy Music".

No more than 1 year later in 2008, after a frustrating 12 months of cancelled shows and tours due to weather, management issues, personal issues, and loss of hope for the music scene, the band decided, as friends and brothers , to part ways as Radiation Year. The album was released to a small few in Maine, family, fans and friends from home with 5 tracks not included, but never saw the light of day anywhere else. It was locked away between the guys, with no plans of sharing it with the world, unless the world beckoned for it to be....until now.

AFTER almost 4 years in haitus, front man vocalist Nicholas Scott Chiasson and Bassist Seif Al Malkay, have announced the return of Radiation Year and plans to officially release the FULL ALBUM REMASTERED and COMPLETE with 2 BRAND NEW TRACKS. As of now original guitarist Zack Sears and drummer Chris Sweet do not plan on rejoining the new RY lineup. The two mentioned "If it were supported the right way and if the idea of doing something different were accepted amongst the people who decide whether or not we play music for a living,..then..maybe". As of now Chiasson and Al Malkay are in search of a new guitarist and drummer in Los Angeles, California where 25 yr old Music Video Director/Producer Nicholas Scott Chiasson currently resides.

With the NEW Radiation Year currently talking with many managers, labels and agencies about what the best direction will be, you can expect a bright future for the soon to be quintet. The guys are soon to Release a Music Video for "Bonnie Bodacious" Directed by Nicholas Scott Chiasson himself, to build viral hype while the band re launches. Fans can look forward to extensive touring and the release of the album this Spring.

During the period between 2006-2008 Radiation Year (original lineup) had the pleaseure of sharing the stages with these bands:

The Used,30 Seconds To Mars,My Chemical Romance, A Change Of Pace, Across Five Aprils, Aiden, As I Lay Dying, theAudition, The Banner,Heavy Heavy Low Low,Therefore I Am, Every Time I Die, Mayday Parade, Evergreen Terrace, Recon,Fear Before the March of Flames, Bayside, Bela Kiss, The Bled, Boy Sets Fire, Chiodos, Evaline, Hopesfall, The Junior Varsity, The Killing Moon, The Receiving End of Sirens, Saosin, Senses Fail, Showbread, The Sleeping, Sparks The Rescue, and many more!
