Indie / Alternative / Folk Rock
Quiet, KY is spoken as Quiet Kentucky. The band is mainly comprised of Dave Arnold, Trevor Nyman, and Jonathan Cheeks, though other players are intermittently involved. This innovative band achieves shades of Elliott Smith, The Beatles, and Death Cab for Cutie in timbre and style, while retaining definitively original pen strokes with songs such as When I Wake and Charity. Quiet, KYs melodic music is crafted beautifully with brilliant acoustic and electric guitars, antique and grand pianos, and intimate ethereal vocals.
During their careers Dave and Trevor have toured college towns throughout the mid-west, performing in a wide range of venues. Now Nashville residents, they are regulars in the music circuit, splitting their time between local shows and home recordings. Quiet, KY's second project (Find A New Place to Live) uses mostly analogue recording equipment, allowing an appealing mixture of intimate room noise with the natural warmth of tape.
Along with the development of his personal artistry, Dave has written/recorded/produced original soundtracks for the short films Stick Figure Symphony, The Chocolate Fountain, and The Time Closet. You can listen/learn more about his scoring at myspace.com/thedistantsecond.
Quiet, KY is a very welcome addition to the Nashville indie scene, bringing their brand of indie-influenced folk to a town that sure seems to like Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, and other artists of that ilk.
Quiet, KYs Elliott Smith-like somber indie-folk is as appealing as almost any master of melancholy making music these days
