Punk / Grunge / Alternative
Founded on July 2000 by Gabriel Toxic, PSYCHOTOXIC is not a conventional project within Argentinean rock. The ambiguous aesthetic between punk and dark, the almost constant lineup changes and the working methods of their recordings make PSYCHOTOXIC an atypical band within the local scene.
Lead by Gabriel Toxic (vocals, guitar, bass, programming), the band included different musicians from the Buenos Aires underground scene, such as Nicolas Moavro (drums, Sancamaleon) and Jesus R. (bass, Sublow, Carne Para Cerdos, Sur Del Cruz), and shared the stage with bands like Devil 69, Gallo De Ria, Disckolos, Godown, Eskizofrenia and Nozh (a.k.a. Mantra) among others.
Unlike most bands, PSYCHOTOXIC operates as Toxic's solo project, being most songs written, arranged, produced and performed by him, with collaborations from the live band's musicians as well as special guests. At the same time, it functions as a band, but lacking the bindings proposed by a steady lineup.
With two albums independently released, Nevermind The Botox (2003) and Land Of The Silver (2005), the band that joins Toxic on stage includes Nadia Painlover on lead guitar, Ioia on bass and backing vocals, and Candeth on rhythm guitar.
PSYCHOTOXIC rarely performs live, and tries to avoid the cliches and rules of the local underground scene, making out of this pseudo-independence a way of life, with no intentions of committing to the music industry.
