Protokoll formed in the summer of 2004 with a sound reminiscent of bands like Bauhaus, The Chameleons UK, New Order, and the Sound. The band consists of: Jose De Lara [also of the band The Mules] (vocals, guitar, synth), Ben Greenspan (guitar, synth, vocals), Daniel O'Neill (bass), and Reid Calkin (drums). They have already toured extensively throughout the country and show no signs of stopping.

Their self titled EP was recorded at Q Division studios in Somerville, MA, and engineered by Rafi Sofer, who was the assistant engineer on Mission of Burma's OnoffOn.

"Terrific new band from the States. Very fine EP. They nod to everything from Bauhaus to The Chameleons UK."- Steve Lamacq- BBC 6 Music DJ

"Holy Divine is one of the best local songs to come out this year"- Paul D (FNX DJ)

"Protokoll will become the biggest band to come out of Boston in 2006 and has been recieving praise around the globe and also has ignited the entire Boston scene."- Paul D (FNX DJ)

"Dark, nervous, and very memorable synth-punk from Boston, MA."- Sam- www.3hive.com

"A good band knows how to sing their troubles, breaking up with the girl or dealing with the stupid boss being stupid again but if they are a really good, they can make their song my own. Protokoll is one of these really good bands."- The Weekly Dig

"The band's mixture of catchy synthesizer lines, fast paced drum beats, and vocal harmonies instantaneously invade your ear drums and causes your feet to tap and you to sing along."- The UMass Lowell Connector

"Successfully applying their ear for a new wave melody to a much eerier post-punk background, it's a formula which has that all-important crossover appeal."- www.LeonardsLair.co.uk

"Upon each listen, another strange layer is waiting to be peeled off. And although the final product is dance punk, these colorful layers and melodic risks make this music transcendent of the genre..... As far as the future goes, this EP tells me that Protokoll has a bright one"- The Noise

"They're a Newer Order, a more Joyous Division, a more lived-in Bauhaus." -The Weekly Dig
