Members: Marc Czygan, Joe Karpinsky, Kai Wang, Nick Karpinsky
The story of Plastic Shapes began in April of 2006, when recording engineer and founding group member Marc Czygan (lead guitar/vocals) set out to create an original, ultra-catchy, and dance-friendly meshing of electronic and rock music.
After realeasing his solo album 'New Indoctrination' to critical acclaim, Czygan set out create a full-fledged band. After several early lineup changes, what is now the definitive band lineup was formed. Nick Karpinsky (bass/vocals) and Kai Wang (keyboards/vocals) joined Czygan in August of 2007, with drummer Joe Karpinsky eventually completing the lineup in January of 2008.
Their sound exploits the virtues of originality, marketability and musical excellence, in an industry that is in dire need of it. Marc Czygan's blazing guitar solos are reminiscent of Van Halen in their early eighties prime, while Kai Wang's keyboard and synth artistry adds color and texture to the band's rich sound. Nick and Joe Karpinsky complete the picture with complex, yet catchy rhythms that give the band its 'dancy' feel.
Plastic Shapes' live show is an electrified explosion of dance-friendly beats, hopping synthesizers and wailing guitars that permeate the clouds of fog and beams of strobes and lasers. The band is eager to deliver this full production whenever and wherever they perform and their growing fan-base is a testament to this doctrine.
This is your invitation to experience the dark, euphoric and varied sounds of Detroit's own electro-rock band Plastic Shapes. Come and FEEL the music!
