Greetings....
Piper Down is on a temporary hiatus until mid-August. Meanwhile, Mia, Randall, and JJ are involved in another band called Swerve.
Oh yea- Seth is getting married this Saturday (July 8th) to Laura, our soundtech! Congrats guys!
We'll be heading out West on tour this fall- look for us in your area! Check back often for more details....
The "Ringing in My Ears" music video premiere event was awesome! You can check out the video on our myspace (click the link below).
czech out Piper Down's MySpace!
Piper Down is a Carmel, Indiana based band that has been playing together a little over a year. Those in attendance at a show will hear songs from Story of the Year, Finch, Emery, Thrice and other bands, along with their original music. They make no apologies about their high-energy show or their faith, and if you ever get the chance to see them play, you'll see both in action.
July 4
So it's July 4th.....last Friday we had our "Ringing in My Ears" video release party and concert. It went really well- thanks to all you great persons who showed up to celebrate with us.
I was thinking- today being 'Independence Day' and all- about how thankful I am to live in a country where we can truly be independent and enjoy all the rights and privileges therein.
In May, I had the chance to visit Normandy in France, where the D-Day landings took place on June 6th, 1944, during World War II. Driving through the green farmland to the beaches and standing on the same sand where thousands of Americans died in a single day was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. The price paid for our freedom was and continues to be immense. Heck, if I was born a couple generations eariler, it very well could have been me. I kept thinking to myself, "How can I ever repay those who died here?"
As I continued thinking, I realized that this 'independence' in a political sense is very different from the way we live in a societal sense. As humans, we were made to be in community with each other- we actually do need each other to live in the manner we were meant to. Each of the men who decided to storm the beaches of Normandy in 1944 changed the course of my life, and all of our lives as Americans. Every decision we make positively or negatively affects other people, whether we realize it or not. Our actions can build up people, or tear them down.
We are in(ter)dependent.

Whatup ya'll?
it's been a while since i've been at a place with internet access, because we're in Europe on tour! it has been awesome so far- we've been to Swizterland, Germany, Austria, and we are now in the Netherlands. Tomorrow is our last show, and we will be heading home May 6th.
The crowds have been awesome and we've definitely learned more about cultures that are different than ours....in southern Germany they have the biggest pretzels i have ever seen. And in German a lot of their words have "fahrt" in them. ha.
When we get back to the US, i will post pics and videos from our trip. AND----
the music video and more songs will be posted within a couple weeks (i think...)
gotta go- you get charged for every minute you use the internet here!

Hey guys, this is Mia. Yes, a girl bass player. Don't look so surprised...I see more and more girls picking up the low-end axe all the time... although, ladies, let me recommend getting a bass that DOESN'T weigh more than you do! I've had to start doing shoulder presses just to be able to hold the thing up at practice and at shows. But it's way fun. The world has enough female vocalists...if you wanna be in a band, get some chops on bass. Oooh...drums sound fun too... mwa ha ha!
Friday night we played at the Rathskeller at Kent State Univ in Kent, OH. A cool show. My instrument cable went berserk in the middle of Ringing in My Ears, so I was off-stage half the time, just trying to remedy the situation. My husband the hero, Randall, bailed me out with one of his cables, though...awwww :)
While we were setting up, we had to walk through the kitchen and BLEH! The smell was RIPE to say the least...potent chemical cleaners & pizza sauce...ewww... That's the rock 'n roll lifestyle, baby... HA!
Oh and I also met a cool girl named Bethany...what up, B?!
Favorite quote right now, complete with English accent: "Rock 'n Roll... Rock 'n Roll...."
--Spinal Tap (that part when they're lost back stage before a show) HILARIOUS!!!
Second favorite quote right now: "ConstiTUtion!"
--Big Daddy (when Adam Sandler teaches "Frankenstein" to read)
That's all from me. Leave us a message and give Ringing another play!
Searching through life with you,
Mia Lucia P

we've gotten a lot of questions about our music video and when it will be done. Let me tell you- it is so close! Our goal was to have it finished last week, but we ran into some complications. Seems like these things really do take longer than you think.......
What we are really waiting on is the final mix of "Ringing" from our upcoming EP. The one posted for you to listen to now is just a rough mix, with no background vocals etc. We want to get the best mix possible, and that also takes more time....
Bottom line: we really think that the video will be done within 2 weeks (cross your fingers). Keep checking here for it, and thanks for your patience.
I'll tell you this, i have seen the video, and i really think it's the best Piper Down music video yet (um...yea, it's also the only one yet).
trying to avoid a lobotomy,
