After many trials this weekend I finally made it to my hotel in Knoxville, TN to start recording bass tomorrow. So let me tell you about these trials. Well first off, we left home Thursday night for Burbank, CA. We arrive around 10:30pm and then had a 5 hour drive to Modesto, CA. The only good thing about that drive was that I didn't have to drive and that we got to stop at In-and-Out Hamburgers. We didn't make it to the hotel and get to bed until about 6am. The good thing was that we got to sleep in and rest most of the next day. We had a great time in Modesto, CA. Our buddies in Echocast shared the stage with us. Dave, their singer, revealed to me that I made an episode of the Ali G show. Its hilarious. The funniest thing is my hair. Dave saw it on Season 1 in the bonus features if you are interested. The show and crowd was amazing. Can't wait to come back to Modesto. The next morning (Sat) we had to make another 5 hour drive in our rental van. It was just as uncomfortable as the day before. The fact is we are wimps. We are used to riding in our nice bus. Vans are bad for the back. We are getting old. Now our show in Valencia, CA on Saturday was plain painful. We appreciate the people who did come out very much. It wasn't their fault, nor ours. The venue had us scheduled to play two performances in one day. Why? We never did figure that out. Let's just say the first show had a very small attendance. The second show was about half as big. Very awkward. To make it through the second show we pulled some stunts to make it fun for everyone. For our intro we hooked our tour managers I-POD up to the sound system and played one of the songs from the Aladdin cartoon (Prince Ali) for our intro. After we played our first song we just took requests from the crowd. They had us play Indivisible which we haven't played once in three years. Then we had the chance to meet and hang out with some great people after the show. We had to get up at 5am to catch our morning flights. After all that I am now finally lying here on the bed in my hotel room. Tomorrow I start tracking bass for the new album. Wish me luck. -Kalel
