Hey, whats up? This weekend my son Kaden came out on the road with us without his mom. Now that he is 2 we figured he was old enough. Actually I thought I would give my wife a break since she is home with our newborn. Kaden had a blast this weekend. If you came out to ether of the shows this weekend you might have seen him sitting on the side of the stage with his headphones on playing the drums.
We played two festival style shows this weekend. On Saturday we played in Somerset, KY. We set the band Decyfer Down and saw them play for the first time. Those guys are awesome. Also, met a few of the other new Flicker (our label) bands- Flatfoot 56, Fire Flight, and Nevertheless. Our friends in Skillet also performed tonight. John and Corey had their cute little kids out on the road with them too. I am glad we were able to play that night. We saw lighting in the horizon right before we were to go on. Tonights show was in Columbus, OH with Falling Up and many others. The guys have been playing some guitar video game in the back lounge this trip. It comes with a little guitar and you basically play cover songs. Its pretty cool.
We are starting to get excited- The Reckoning releases in 20 days. A lot of things are starting to go down. We recently saw the first edit of the Everything video. It turned out awesome. Hopefully it will be done in a few weeks. I think it might make its premier on the new The Reckoning e-card once its done. By the way be sure to check out the new e-card. Its posted on the main page of our site. Please stop by www.ccmmagazine.com and cast your vote for their 2006 Readers Choice Awards- dont forget to represent for Pillar. We have an acoustic performance this Thursday so we will be busy practicing for that once we get home. -Kalel

If you are wondering why we decided to do the video shoot for "Everything" in Goodland, KS (actually 9 miles West) because its actually pretty close to where Pillar first started. The band started in Hays, KS and we really wanted to capture the look and feel of Pillar's origins. We also have lots of family and friends who helped make this video possible. So when you see this video remember that Rob is from Plainville, KS; Kalel's family lives in Larned, KS; and the band started in Hays, KS. We knew early on this video was destined to be great. The weather channel was showing that is was supposed to storm and rain in western Kansas all weekend which would have really changed the outcome of our shoot. On our way to the "farm" early Saturday morning it was really raining and once it stopped a thick fog was blocking the Kansas scenery we were hoping to capture on film. Come 10 AM the flog lifted and it ended up a beautiful day. The sun came out, but it never really got hot. When we wrapped up filming around 11 PM the raining started coming down again. I think somebody was looking out for us.
We want to especially thank the Duell's for opening their homes to us and the crew. Dan Duell went above and beyond the call of duty- Thank you. Special thanks to all the fans who came from all over Kansas and Colorado to be apart of this video shoot. I also want to thank my little brother Chris for coming out and helping. Thanks bro. I don't really want to give away the plot of the video. All I can say is that involved an old antique tractor, '58 Ford truck, and a raised red-reck flat bed truck. Now its off to the editing room. We have no idea when the video will be finished and will not even try to guess. Now we are just going to take it easy until "The Reckoning" releases October 3rd and Rob and his wife has their baby (due early October). Keep us in your prayers during this exciting time. -Kalel

What's up? We recently got home from The Gorge at George, WA for Creation Festival. It was very warm there. I was hoping since it was so north it might not be 100 degrees. This year we choose to do something different at Creation. We were getting tired of the main stage vibe at Creation because they always gave us a afternoon slot and the crowd is always so far away behind barricades. So this year we wanted to close the second stage. It was so much fun. The crowd was right up to the front of the stage. We heard lots of talk that we had the biggest crowd ever at that stage. It even started to cool down near the end of our set. I think it was the best Creation West show we have done. Despite standing in the heat all day the crowd moved and jumped like no other. The bus rolls this Thursday for Soul Fest in NH and Kingdom Bound in NY. A very long bus trip.
Things are starting to get very exciting around here with the new album releasing in about 2 months things are starting to fall into place. On October 3 we will be releasing "The Reckoning" and "The Reckoning Limited Edition". The Limited Edition will cost more but comes with a DVD. We just watched the whole DVD a few days ago and let me tell you its awesome. Its the DVD we always wanted to release. The DVD features our Cornerstone 2006 performance (filmed very nicely), video commentary of the album, and private music sessions with each band member. We have also been talking about doing a video for the song "Everything" soon in later August. We just read a treatment that we really liked. I think we might be filming it out in Kansas close to where Pillar started. We will need fans for part of it so once we know the time and date we will make the announcement. I also just found out today that familychristian.com is already taking pre-orders for "The Reckoning" and once you preorder it you are able to listen to a stream of the whole album now! Check it out here- http://www.familychristian.com/shop/product.asp?prodID=15383. Our Myspace page also just had a make over. Check it out at www.myspace.com/pillar. Don't forget to start using "The Reckoning" banners and other web tools posted there for you all. -Kalel
