Blues & Soul Magazine England

"After sifting through mounds of turgid and insubstansial run-of-the-mill
releases it's refreshing to come across a white-labelled 7 inch of a great swedish soul record with nothing but a blurred black and white label to
offer any clue as to what its all about. A cursory investigation reveals Paul Mac Innes is a Gothenburg based vocalist and T.B.O.I. are Owe and Bjorn
Almgren, or The Brothers Of Invention. The debut release on DJ Nik Westons new Mukatsuku label, "Even Though", is a pleasant, plodding soul cut, not
enough bells and whistles for the kids to go ape over but solid nontheless.
The winner is b-side "what you do", though, a sunday morning saxophone and thight bassline framing Innes contemplating vocal. It's grown mans music.
Strictly limited to 300 copies so buy two and put one on ebay in a month when it's sold out.
(Verdict: At least the Swedes are better at making music than they are managin football teams)

PAUL MAC INNES AND T.B.O.I. >> Even Though b/w What You Do >> (7" > MUKATSUKU)
Yes, yes, yes the first release on Nik Weston's label Mukatsuku Records and what a beauty it is! Paul Mac Innes is the son of a Swedish mother and
American father and his soulful vocals just ooze talent with every note. "Even Though" is one of those slow (almost love) songs that are a pleasure
to hear because they are real and not just made up in some studio somewhere, these songs come straight from the heart. Flip over and "What You Do" is on a similar vein and has future soul classic written all over it. This is not for those who buy records just to play in the clubs, this is for those who buy records because they are into true music and classy compositions and this has both in abundance!

PAUL MACINNES AND T.B.O.I
Even Though/What You Do Mukatsuku

Born out of the longstanding Jap/jazz club nights, Mukatsuku unveils its first release a truly soulful affair in the key of Bilal, Amp Fiddler and D'Angelo.
