Members: Angelina de los Rosarios, Paul Vega, Hector Jafet, Raymundo Castillo, Josue Ramirez

Somewhere between indie and pop, between the traditional and post-modern falls the Latin alternative group Palo Viejo. Playing an eclectic and energetic style of music, Palo Viejo has drawn comparisons to everybody from the Police to Juan Luis Guerra and Los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Formed in the southern industrial town of Baton Rouge and transplanted to Miami, Palo Viejo has garnered attention from around the world.
The uniqueness of Palo Viejo is due in large part to the diversity of its members. Front woman, Angelina de los Rosarios Lopez, is a native of the caribbean island nation the Dominican Republic along with drummer Raymundo Castillo and percussionist Hector Jafet. Guitarist Paul Vega brings North American jive from his hometown of New Orleans and bassist Josue Ramirez brings the pulsing bottom end from Honduras, with love.
Called the sound you cant define but you know you dig it by BOOM! Music Magazine and a textured and dynamic groove, an eclectic and fresh combination of Caribbean, ska, and rock", by Batanga Magazine. The Houston Press says, Palo Viejo's skilled, grooving musicianship, coupled with the sultry, melodic vocals of Angelina de los Rosarios Lopez, makes the band's sound highly accessible, conjuring a female fronted Police or, perhaps, a Latino answer to Gwen". Famed Latin music critic Ramiro Burr calls Palo Viejo a funky brew of rock, Caribbean and ska. Radio DJ and music editor Kike Posada opines 'Que fuerza y que energia!'
A few notable Palo Viejo performances include the famed South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas and the Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City and with internationally renowned Latin alternative acts Plastilina Mosh, Libido, and Grammy nominated groups Circo, and Los Amigos Invisibles. The group was also selected as one of the Best New Artists by listeners of Batanga Zonica Internet Radio. Palo Viejo has been featured on Music Entertainment Television and their single Brinca has charted in the top 10 on alternative station La X 102.1 FM in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
