O Theos Divine "Take A Breath And..."
O Theos Divine is a Tallahassee-based Christian indie-rock band that brought its members together by passion and desire; passion for doing what they love to do, and the desire to do something that matters. The resulting effort is a sound that grabs you by the ears and heart and never lets go. Borne in the demise of the North Florida band Rhema, three of the remaining members decided that the end of one band could be the start of another. Soon Paulo Clayton, James Johnson and Mike Mills brought in Justin Robinson and Matt Folsom for jam sessions, and a musical spark was lit. What came from that spark was a sound that could not be compared to the music of the time. This spark was only intensified by the mutual hope of spreading the truth and love of Jesus Christ to everyone and anyone willing to listen, and O Theos Divine was born. OTD soon started playing locally in Tallahassee, FL, and then out in other areas of North Florida and South Georgia. Citing influences from Coheed and Cambria to Dream Theatre, combined with an original and refreshing sound, new fans began flocking to shows no matter where they played. In the fall of 2005 OTD entered The Sandbox Studio, owned by Tallahassee-based label Pixel Records under Mike McHargue and Jeb Bodiford, and began the process of recording what was to become the band's first official EP: "take a breath and..." In the beginning of 2006 Mike Mills decided it was time for him to move on with his life and the band parted ways with their beloved friend and guitarist. The departure of a founding member brought a new dedication to the remaining group. With good friend and veteran of the Tallahassee band scene Dick Bokinsky filling in on guitar for live performances, the band pushed their live shows to a new level as they spread word of the soon to be released EP. The fan base continued to grow as did anticipation of the EP. As of summer of 2006 the "take a breathe and..." EP is finally finished and slated for release at the end of the summer. The Murray Hill Theatre in Jacksonville, FL, will be the first CD release show, and the band is stoked. Stay tuned for more updates.
