Em 1992, Panda Reis e Alex Chiovitti formaram o OLIGARQUIA. Desde o início das atividades a banda sofreu com diversas mudanças em sua formação, chegando a se apresentar como dupla em alguns shows no ano de 1993. Seu primeiro registro foi lançado somente em 1995, a demo tape “Conviction of the Death”, que deu maior exposição ao grupo no cenário underground.

Nos quatro anos seguintes o Oligarquia participou de diversas coletâneas ao redor do mundo, e em 1999 lançou seu segundo registro, a demo “Really to be Dead”, lançada de forma independente e que alcançou a marca de 2.000 cópias vendidas, o que atraiu a atenção da Destroyer Records, que em 2001 lançou o primeiro álbum do grupo da banda, intitulado “Nechropolis”. Com o lançamento do seu primeiro álbum o Oligarquia fez uma extensa turnê no Brasil, teve maior exposição na mídia especializada, participou de novas coletâneas e importantes shows, incluindo uma apresentação ao lado do Incantation , Napalm Death , Força Macabra , Monstrosity.

Já com uma nova gravadora, a Mutilation Records, e nova formação a banda lança “Humanavirus”, seu segundo álbum, em 2003, e parte para mais uma turnê. No ano seguinte o Oligarquia participou do split-MCD “Enslave by Light”, lançado em Portugal. A “Humanavirus Tour”, iniciada no final de 2003, foi encerrada somente em Dezembro de 2005, e foi sucedida pela “Antes do Caos Mini Tour”, que passou por São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Espírito Santo e Rio de Janeiro. Após a mini turnê a banda começa a trabalhar pesado nas composições do novo álbum, e após diversas mudanças de formação durante toda sua história, este comum fato atinge também Alex Chiovitti, um dos membros fundadores.

O baterista Panda Reis decide então reformular o Oligarquia, que passa então a ser um quinteto, o que trouxe diversas mudanças positivas para o grupo, desde a parte musical quanto ideológica. Com a formação estabilizada o grupo entra no Top Noise Studio para gravar seu disco mais “old school”, que receberá o nome de “Distiling Hatred”.

In 1992, Panda and Alex Chiovitti formed the Oligarquia. Since the start of activities the band suffered several lineup changes, even a show as double in some shows in ´93.
