Hailing from Kansas City, Oh Blessed Thought was formed in late summer of 2006 by a close knit group of friends with a common love for music. They began writing shortly after with a range of influences spanning from folk to indie rock. The next few months were filled with basement writing sessions fueled by a desire to make music they could call their own. In the summer of 2007, Oh Blessed Thought began recording at Hyde Park studio in Kansas City. The result of this effort can be heard on their debut full length album entitled, Light a Lamp, Sweep the House. Oh Blessed Thought strives to make every live performance a memorable one. From group vocals, to stomps and claps, there is a strong sense of companionship throughout the live set.

Oh Blessed Thought just recently finished recording their latest EP, "Basement EP" with their friend Chad Fawcett. The album was mastered by Chris Crisci, lead singer and guitarist of the great indie rock band The Appleseed Cast. Throughout the writing process, they lost one band member, but stayed true to themselves and worked on building from where they left off. Having grown and matured musically through the many changes the band has gone through, Oh Blessed Thought have found their niche on Basement EP, bringing more earthy and organic sounds while still holding true to their musical roots that were starting on their first album with many group vocals and other parts that show companionship between the group. The Basement EP shows where the band has come from and where they are going and they want to invite you along for the rest of the journey, wherever it may lead.
