New Stellar Star's Bio


New Stellar Star is the brain child of singer/songwriter and producer Chris Bullock. Chris wrote and produced five of the seven songs on his debut EP Hit Star Parade. New Stellar Star was formed in 2008 by Chris Bullock and fellow band member Peter Vander Hout. Their first joint collaboration was the song Beautiful Charade. The songs Fade Out, All The While, So Far Down, Still Miss You and Since I don't Have You were all written and produced by Chris Bullock as a solo effort.

Chris Bullock and Peter Vander Hout are currently writing several brand new songs and creating memorable power hooks and lyrics that will leave you soaring upon the the notes of there melodies. Chris Bullock is the lead vocalist and front man for New Stellar Star and has a ton of original material under his belt. He aslo plays the acoustic and electric guitar. Chris has been performing for well over 10 years both as a solo artist and with a full band. He is known for his skills as a producer and songwriter.

Chris was born in Winnipeg to working class parents. His mother was a cook and his father was a writer. Chris started to write songs at a very young age. Growing up he spent many long years in the grips of the freezing cold Winnipeg winters locking himself in seclusion honing his craft.

In early 2002, Bullock packed up his suitcase and guitar and moved to Vancouver, B.C. to further pursue his music career at a larger scale. Chris lived in the trendy Kitsilano neighborhood while performing at several musical venues around town including the popular venue, The Media Club. He then went on to record a unreleased acoustic demo in a local studio in town called The Audio Lounge. At this time he wrote an entire record and was preparing to record a full length album in 2006.Chris moved back to his hometown of Winnipeg where he met his future band member. After a period of writers block Chris was invited to the Goo Goo Doll's studio in Buffalo, New York where he would record his first album. Instead of releasing a solo record Chris decided to release several songs under the new band name New Stellar Star.

Peter Vander Hout was born in Hammond, Indiana and was raised in a south suburb of Chicago called Glenwood. Peter plays the piano, bass guitar, as well as back up vocals for New Stellar Star. Peter started taking piano lessons when he was six and ended them when he was eight but that did not stop him as he continued to play entirely by ear and has been using the piano to compose ever since.

After graduating High school Peter moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. In April of 2000 he was accepted as a saxophone major at the school of music at the University of Manitoba. During this time he was the youngest and only undergraduate to graduate from the Canadian Wind Conductors Development program. He graduated in the Spring of 2007 with a music and education bachelor's degree.

Peter went into the recording studio in 2005 to record several instrumental pieces on the piano. Peter's individual compositional style has been compared to romantic pianist Jim Brickman and even Ludwig Van Beethoven. On multiple occasions audiences have said that his music is deeply emotional story-telling.

During his first year of teaching is when Peter first met Chris Bullock through a mutual friend. The two started sharing song ideas and found their styles meshed very well together and that would give birth to New Stellar Star. New Stellar Star's official debut album is now available on itunes.


Recently New Stellar Star worked with critically acclaimed award winning rock producer of the year Dale Penner whose previous credits include a platinum record for Nickelback's The State. New Stellar Star's brand new single "Lay Down On Me" was produced by Dale and will be released on itunes in August.
