northsoutheastwest was an indie/post-hardcore band formed in Wisconsin in 2005. Citing influences as These Arms are Snakes, Hum, Circa Survive, and Thursday, the band consisted of Brett Powers (drums), Anthony Kuchera (guitar & keyboards), Matt Schoeffler (guitar), Paul Meitz (bass) and Brian Tombari (vocals).

The band self released an EP, titled "The Islands are Still Sinking" in 2006. They also contributed the song "The Islands are Still Sinking" (which did not appear on the EP of the same title) to a compilation titled "Midwest Meltdown".

The band played their final show in November of 2007. Despite their short tenure, they made a notable impact in the midwest, and continue to do so with new projects. Anthony and Brett are playing under the moniker: Our Cadence. Matt has resurfaced in the The Vanishing Art. Brian is currently fronting the band Hail Archer.
