Indie / Rock / Emo
Youth is wasted on the young. This statement sure doesn't apply to No Point Intended, the catchy, young, rock quartet out of Dearborn, MI. After forming in January of 2005, the guys have quickly made a splash on the Detroit music scene.
No Point Intended got out of the blocks quickly, playing at prestigious venues like St. Andrews Hall and recording their first 4 song EP all within 3 months of their first time playing together. Unfortunately the boys, all of whom were in a band for the first time, struggled to find the direction they wanted to take their music. Consisting of 4 members (Paul on vox/guitar; Ryan on lead guitar/vox; Lou on bass; Rich on drums), the band focused the better part of the spring of 2006 on the direction in which they wanted to head. By the time the summer started, we had figured out what we wanted to do, and were ready to change some peoples minds about us, says the drummer, Richard Brewis.
And change minds they did! With new songs and tons of energy in their live show, No Point Intended played over 20 shows throughout the summer. These shows gained them fans and experience, not to mention the respect of the local music scene. Some of these shows included sharing the stage with The Junior Varsity (Victory) at St. Andrews, plus other shows at the Shelter and St. Andrews. Some of these shows were for the Bodog Records Battle of the Bands, where No Point Intended was one of the top 36 bands in the Detroit area selected from over 300 entries. The boys also have also earned so time on the radio, getting both their songs played and doing interviews for 97.1 Live FM and EMU's radio station. When asked what his favorite show has been so far in his short career, bassist Louis Peppas replied, Definitely the Battle of the Bands at St. Andrews; it was ridiculous.
So what exactly does the new No Point Intended sound like you ask? Ryan Malinowski, lead guitarist, says, As a band we have so many different influences that we don't sound exactly like just one band. Its just music you need to judge for yourself. Nate Mazur, the Detroit Manager of Bodog Records observed, This group of young guys proved that age is just a number when it comes to writing great songs! They played catchy alternative rock sounding songs, all which had tight, catchy hooks. The crowd seemed to be energized by their set as well, and everyone in the venue enjoyed watching their energetic show!"
With a new EP on the way and half the band still in high school, the skys the limit for this fresh-faced group of rockers. Paul DiMarco, lead singer for the group, said of his second time in the studio, This time around it was amazing! The whole band went in there with a passion and a game plan. Im hoping we impress a lot of people with this new EP.
Be sure to look for No Point Intended on tour this summer all over the Midwest!
