Nodd Morris

Indie pop rock artist is here to blow your mind with music that sounds strangely familiar yet totally new and fresh. Hailing from Marthas Vineyard (where he developed a strong acquaintance with Willy Mason), Nodd Morris is an artist whose music really kind of defies categorization. You must call him indie for he is an artistic independent, indeed. His music rocks, and pop accessibility marks all his work.

Broad Tastes

Morris tastes and talent are broad in scope. Ive written songs in all genres from reggae to old school rap (over an acoustic guitar classical chord progression kind of thing), to folk pop, to just straight acoustic tracks and so much more. His expansive songwriting makes for music that is eclectic in terms of inspirations, but Morris makes sure to keep an even keel and ever track is distinctly Morris. I can be known to write a throbbing rock song that will burst out into a quick reggae segment to keep the heads moving and place on emphasis on certain lyrics with a new flow, then cut out and burst right back into rock.

Looking Inward

Music allows us to explore the places inside ourselves and this is definitely true with Morris. I tend to believe that music is a form of self-meditation for me. Without it, all of my ideas and feelings would well up in my chest until I died of an aneurysm. By writing music that functions as self-meditation, Morris creates songs that offer the same exploration for his listeners. His songs are absorbing, thoughtful and intelligent.

The Need

Songwriting is lust. It is a need. I cannot be stopped. If I couldnt write music, Id probably be a boxer so I could get it all out. Each note is hit with a consistent energy, regardless of volume. No matter how happy or depressing a song is, the outcome for me is the same: relief. Morris offers up songs that teem with catharsis and beauty. Listeners can sit in awe of the emotional impact that flows from the speakers or stage when Morris music is playing.

Real Life

Experience itself is the truest form of musical inspiration. Thats where the truth of music, and its honesty, lies. What inspires me to write are real life experiences, observations, philosophical conclusion/debate or just a great story that will in turn nag at you until you cant neglect it anymore.

Work

Im currently finishing an EP entitled Burning Bridges that should be out sometime this spring. Im recording it with Jimmy Parr, whos recently finished recording Carly Simons new album Into White. Morris is working with A&R Select, the leading independent A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
