thanksgiving

oh my lord, my hands are out of control and are tapping out words on this computer in a small room in southern california today, right now, here. i don't know what's going on, it looks like we are either...

a) writing and recording the galaxy's most beautiful music. even better than shakira's latest single 'hips don't lie' (which the last ever song played on the legendary British programme Top of the Pops which weirdly enough saw the track jump back from number three to the number one spot again, after spending seven weeks on the chart).

b) being scammed by low-down, good-for-nuthin mofos on ebay who won't deliver that effects pedal a month after paying for it... can't we all just get along and be true to our word? seriously, our civilisation rests on mutual respect and love. a chain is only as strong as its' weakest link etc etc....

c) personalising bottles of water with our intials because one of us would open a bottle, taken a sip and then put it down on the table and then there would be a table full of just opened bottles of water and no one would know whose was whose. it's not like any of us have any weird diseases or anything but to me it seemed kind of unhygienic. and our health is like a big plate of fruit, y'know?

d) apologising for our website being fucked. i think this might have been my fault. what happened was that freeserve got taken over by wanadoo and wanadoo got taken over by orange and i changed my email address seventeen times since then and i lost the old password and account details which resulted in everything being kaput. but we are getting a new website soon, i think. with forums and words and pictures and colours and lights and whistles and bells and baubles and trinkets and free cash for everyone!

e) listening to tinny speakers burbling out some david bowie or some autolux or maybe some neil young or or flaming lips or tom waits or buffalo springfield or stephen stills or wilco while eating specially imported smarties and going from yorkshire tea to grapefruit juice to pinot noir to crystal geyser to unnamed vodka to lemon snapple to heineken to bombay sapphire to crystal geyser....

f) addressing the issue of vibe. does this mean a cardboard princess diana smiling as she watches traffic on a balcony? should everything be covered with xmas lights? is gore and flesh from american 1950s superior to five hours of worldless russian dystopian future-death-love?

now i have blisters on my fingers and someone has just come into the room and asked why we aren't recording? what?

Down to business

For some, autumn is a time spent reaping the fruits of the year..s harvest in order to fatten up for the festive season and the dark winter months that lay ahead.

However, such traditions are not for the likes of Nine Black Alps. Instead we witness them arduously packing suitcases with guitar strings, lyric books and pipe dreams in preparation for a period of feverish activity that will result in the eventual birth of their second album.

Yes, it seems that with ecomonomy flight tickets in hand, Nine Black Alps will board a grey metal bird to Los Angeles where, in conjunction with esteemed producer Dave Sardy, they will furrow their brows, vent their spleens and bleed their hearts into the production of a glorious technicolour audiophonic dreamscape.

Those of a curious bent will have their voyeuristic needs catered to by the reassembly and redevelopment of the Nine Black Alps internet site where the band..s progress will be monitored and evaluated in preparation for the album..s eventual dissemination via mass media and retail outlets early next year.

Nine Black Alps at X Games 12!

For those folks who are looking forward to the X Games 12 in Los Angeles next weekend, you have an extra reason to be happy as we are now playing a show at the Home Depot Center location on Saturday August 5th. We'll be rocking out at 3:50pm on the music stage (i.e. the parking lot) and then i think we're playing an acoustic set later in the day too.... not sure where but we can let you know. If you weren't planning on going but now you are then the address of the venue is:-
