the four members of nickel arcade did not come together by any accident. you could say it was divine intervention, you could say canine intervention, but it was surely nothing short of a miracle. nickel arcade formed in early 1993, under the name "argyle lotus." gene, peter, tony, and dan practiced long and hard everyday after school, eventually becoming the greatest rock band that kennebunkport, maine had ever known. the night of their very first show, dan left to get a mountain dew from the corner store to calm his pre-show jitters. ten minutes before the band was due to hit the stage, dan still hadnt returned. tony screamed aloud, "what are we going to DO without a bass player?! we cant PLAY without a bass player!!" so gene, peter, and tony split up to look for dan. gene searched high and low. peter searched left and right. Tony searched on or around. finally, gene poked his head around a corner leading to a dark alley with steam billowing out of nearby dryer vents. there lay dan, ravaged and bloodied by the teeth of some wild city beast, crying, "geeeeene... geeeeeeeeeeene..." gene looked at dans' mangled and sanguine limbs and shrieked, "what on gods good gracious earth happened here?! and where is the mountain dew?" dan pointed to a dumpster and croaked, "back...there..." gene eagerly went to retrieve his soda, but instead there was a dog! giving birth! TO A GROWN BOY! gene couldnt take the sight, and stood up to vomit in the dumpster. but gene knew that this was a sign from god. or the dog. or something. gene thought to himself, "ill call the boy 'ben,' and we can teach him to play bass in our band." he grabbed dans' jacket to wipe ben clean of placenta and birth fluids, and the two walked back to where peter and tony were waiting, instruments in hand. gene thrust a bass guitar at ben and the show began. the three remaining members of argyle lotus didnt feel right going on without dan, and ben barked out his first words, "nickel arcade." they played, and they rocked, and today they are still playing and still rocking. maybe someday nickel arcade will make your dog have a baby, too.

I saw you guys a couple of months ago, In Haley\'s
basement. The shirt i bought&&you guys signed is by far
my favorite. &&I love the new stuff. :D Oh, && like
half my pictures are taken in that shirt. considering i
took them all in like one day. ANYWHO! i love you
guys. :D

Coley\'s going to be the new drummer :] you better
treat my big brother good mmkay? he\'s an amazing boy
