Story of the Year
is celebrating their October 8 release of Page Avenue: Ten Years and Counting
—a full acoustic reimagining of their classic Page Avenue
—and they're here to debut your first listen to a new take on album standout "Dive Right In
"I really love driving and flowy vibe the acoustic guitar provides in this song in particular. The drums sounds are pretty organic—they are mostly us beating on the bottom of an acoustic guitar," explains guitarist Ryan Phillips
. "That stripped down, kind of straight-forward acoustic jammy jam sound makes me want to sit on a beach around a campfire and eat 12 beers.
"We felt like the song needed to open up a bit more and breathe, so we created an alternate bridge. That stuff is really fun for me. And I love, love, love the programming and pianos in this song—not over the top, and they have a reason and purpose for being there. There is nothing worse to me than production for the sake of production."
Lead vocalist Dan Marsala
adds that "Dive Right In" has always been one of his favorite songs lyrically on Page Avenue
: "It's a metaphorical song about just wanting to give up. It was really fun to go back and record the vocals again and relive what it means to me," he says. "It was super fun to re-work the bridge and give it a more flowing acoustic vibe. Awesome song!"
Congrats on 10 years of Page Avenue
