Osaka Popstar (John Cafiero Solo Project) Premieres "Super Hero" + WIN Limited Edition Super Hero Vinyl

Osaka Popstar, the music and art crossover project of longtime Misfits and Ramones collaborator John Cafiero, returns with a larger-than-life, limited collector's edition 12" vinyl, Super Hero, and we're happy to bring you the premiere of the effort's title track today.

Joining Cafiero as a backing band on this new effort is a revolving cast of punk icons, including members of the Ramones, the Misfits, Black Flag and more. Artist Josh Howard—creator of the Dead @ 17 comic book/graphic novel series, Black Harvest—also lends a hand to the project, offering up his version of a femme fatale for the vinyl's front and back cover art.

“Two of my biggest passions are music and art, and I think they find common ground in Osaka Popstar. The new release, Super Hero, is definitely indicative of that," Cafiero explains. "Sonically, its core is akin to the music I’ve always been drawn to, up-tempo melodic alt-rock, or pop punk in the spirit of the Ramones, but with my own unique approach. Visually, it’s got a strong comic book sensibility that I feel illustrates the sound perfectly."

The vinyl's online exclusive is available for pre-order now and is set to include a download card with free MP3s of all tracks on the 12", bonus animated video download, lyrics, and for the first time on a physical release, the "Where’s the Cap’n?—Extra Crunchy Mix." Additionally, the solid white vinyl version of the effort remains available to order via Osaka Popstar's or the Misfits' websites, as well as in stores February 5.

And as for Cafiero's future Osaka endeavors? "I plan to keep the momentum building with more to come later in the year and an expanded reissue of the debut album (Osaka Popstar & the American Legends of Punk), which is currently out of print physically."
