Tempe, Ariz.'s Crash Coordinates
are fresh out of the studio, where they've been recording six new singles with Cory Spotts (Lydia). Today, we have the exclusive premiere of one of them: the darkly melodic, "La Fin du Monde," which features Anarbor's Slade Echeverria on guest vocals.
Taking cues from alt rock instrumentals brushed with slight ambient influences, this new single utilizes brash percussion and spiraling riffs to evoke the dark, untamed feeling that comes with descending into insanity. The instruments aren't the only elements helping this song along its way, though. "The dual vocals represent a man losing himself to insanity, only to lose not only himself but the one he loved," guitarist Chris Wahl
explains of the song's concept.
And when asked about bringing Echeverria into the studio with them, Whal says, "Working with Slade was an awesome experience. He nailed all of his vocal takes and it was great hearing him sing on a track that's much darker than what we were used to hearing him on. His voice really added the extra depth to the song that it needed. It’s rare to find a vocalist these days whose voice is great without added studio magic."
