It's been nearly four years since
Camera Obscura made their
4AD debut with
My Maudlin Career, but fans can now get excited at the prospect of new music with the announcement the band are getting ready to release a new album.
Desire Lines, recorded with GRAMMY-nominated producer
Tucker Martine (R.E.M., Spoon, My Morning Jacket), is slated for a June 4 release.
"Of all our records this was pretty much the most challenging to write, partly because of the situation we found ourselves in with having to take such a long and uncertain amount of time out, but also because it would be record number five and we were getting harder and harder to please," says vocalist/guitarist
Tracyanne Campbell. "Working in the US with southern gentleman Tucker Martine was a positive experience. He brought a certain calmness to recording that wasn't there before. We were also delighted to have
Neko Case and
Jim James sing on the record, too. What a treat."
The band will also be touring extensively this year. In addition to festival dates and a North American run with
She & Him—which they've added more dates to today—they will be making a trek out to the UK. Check out their US dates here and
