Brooklyn-based indie rock artist Allison Weiss
proves that emotion-based music doesn't have to be a downer with her new song "Nothing Left," which comes off her forthcoming new album Say What You Mean
"I was in this place emotionally where I had so much to say but no idea where to start. When 'Nothing Left' happened it felt like my thesis statement for the rest of the record. I finished it the night before we were supposed to record," says Weiss. "I think I spent 10 hours that day demoing it out in Garageband before I sent it to Chris Kuffner
at 3 AM like, 'I don't know if this is good, I am crazy, what do you think?' and he wrote back to tell me he loved it, and it ended up being one of our favorites on the album."
With its punchy percussion, jangling guitars, and hook-heavy melodies underscored by the slightest hint of melancholy, it effortlessly resonates on levels of both lyric and musicality, delivering a track that's as relatable as it is challenging to shake from your head.
