William Beckett's "Great Night" — Song of the Day

William Beckett, former frontman of the Academy Is..., will be releasing his Winds Will Change EP, [the second in his 3-EP series] July 17, and he's offering up the EP's first single "Great Night" as an exclusive first listen. This tune's a jangling, pop-rock dream, chock-full of catchy melodies, rolling percussion, and one epic chorus — and it also has a distinct sense of humor. Listen closely to those lyrics, and you'll hear WB thanking a would-be-lover for "a great night," though it's "not meant to be." We're all for an optimistic twist on a love story gone wrong, and this song is hands-down a lot of fun to listen to. It's also a great teaser of the subject-matter you'll find on Winds Will Change.

As Beckett says, "This selection of songs dives deeper into the never ending mysteries of love and the struggles and challenges that come with trying to nourish and sustain it. This is the next chapter." We're ready and waiting to turn the page and dive right in.

Give this song a spin, and take note that Beckett is also gearing up for a summer tour with Relient K and Hellogoodbye. You can check out those dates and details here.
