Last week, Andy Mrotek — former drummer for
The Academy Is... — was attacked by multiple people
and severly injured. The aftermath of the unfortunate events left Mrotek in need of reconstructive surgery. In an effort to offset the severe medical costs Mrotek is now facing,
William Beckett has announced a special
StageIt show in which all proceeds will be donated to his friend and former bandmate's cause.
"On August 6, I will be playing a benefit show on Stageit.com in which all proceeds will be donated to Andy to help pay for his time in the hospital," reads a personal statement from Beckett. "I will be playing some of Andy’s favorite TAI songs in his honor."
Beckett will be setting up a pay-what-you-can donation scale, starting at ten cents and open to whatever maximum amount you see fit. As Beckett mentioned in his note, though, " keep in mind that this is a special benefit for Andy Mrotek and all proceeds will go towards helping him pay for his surgery."
The performance will begin at 8PM EST on August 6 and you can grab your tickets now. We wish Mrotek a speedy recovery!
