Wavves has given the Misfit's "Hybrid Moments" a lo fi, surf rock-inspired makeover. The hand claps give a burst of energy to the otherwise dreamy vibe, and the static-tinged sound quality produces a cool effect, rather than falling to the depths of "remake mayhem" so many cross-genre covers are prone to. Frontman Nathan Williams posted the tune to twitter last night, as an "ode to the band." Afterwards, he tweeted, "I didn't tune my guitar and I think the chorus goes once more in the end." No disclaimers needed Nate, we still dig this.
