Free MP3: The Special Goodness, aka Weezer's Patrick Wilson's, "Everywhere" — Song of the Day
Patrick Wilson, best known for his drum work with Weezer, has been making music for years under his solo moniker The Special Goodness. At times it's been a full band, and at other times it's been a true solo affair — the latter being the case for TSG's latest album, Natural, which dropped May 22 on Surf Green Records. The return to solidarity has done incredible things for Wilson's project, as is shown in new song, "Everywhere."
From its hushed, ethereal beginnings and escalating percussion, to its crashing cymbals and psychedelic guitar riffs, this tune seesaws between meditative and impassioned, tranquil and explosive. "When I played the opening guitar, it made me think of being at peace with an imperfect world," says Wilson, summing up the tune's incredible play on contrast in one sweet phrase.
